Because He Has Risen...

We're the Church of the Living God

The Church of the Living God is a church where your salvation is a priority to us.
The love that this church and our Pastor shows to the community and our congregation, is perhaps what we are best known for. We strive daily to maintain that core attribute while improving in other areas, so that we can achieve explosive growth and more saved souls for Christ. This is what our community is seeking; a loving church family, uplifting worship services, excellent ministries, Ministers and services.

If you are seeking a place for your family to have a true worship experience that is loving, safe and uplifting, we invite you to feel welcome to share in any of our worship services and bring your family or a friend with you. Our ministry is equipped to guide you through whatever daily life challenges you face and to assist you in having a closer walk with God.

Bishop John M. Williams, Jr. has presided over the Fourth Episcopal Diocese that includes the states of Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky since 2006.   He also serves on The National Executive Board of the church of the Living God Christian Workers for Fellowship (C.W.F.F.).

Bishop Williams and his family  moved to Muskegon in 1978 and he has been the pastor of Church of the Living God Temple #218 in Muskegon, MI for 35 years. Prior to his appointment to Bishop of the Fourth Episcopal Diocese he was Overseer for the Fourth Episcopal Diocese for eight years; and served as the  Fourth Episcopal Diocese Financial Manager for twenty years.
Bishop Williams is highly respected in the community that he serves and has been involved in several community organizations such as the Muskegon County Health Care initiative of which he served as a board member for ten years; Muskegon Evening Y’s Men, Muskegon county Black Political Caucus and the Muskegon City-Wide Brotherhood.

Bishop Williams is married to his lovely wife Elect Lady JoAnn Williams, and they have six children (4 sons and 2 daughters) and 13 grandchildren.  An advocate for higher education, Bishop Williams was also educated at Indian University Northwest Campus in Gary, IN and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL.

Elect Lady JoAnn Williams

Lady JoAnn Williams is an inspirational woman of God who leads with wisdom and grace. Throughout her nearly 50 years of marriage, she has diligently served alongside her husband, Bishop John M. Williams, Jr., with purpose and precision. She strives to be an example of what it means to be a helpmate to her husband.

JoAnn loves the young women of the Church of the Living God Temple 218 and feels the world has infiltrated the church too much. Although things do change, there is a standard that does not. Her desire is to be an example of Christian womanhood, wife and motherhood.  She had the awesome opportunity of writing a daily devotional that deals with life and family, and a devotional calendar.
